By default, only administrators can manage snippets. Role-based permissions let you give other roles access to snippets — without handing them the keys to the whole site.
Where to find it
Open Snippets → Settings and go to the Advanced tab. The Role Permissions setting lets you pick an access level for each role.
Access levels
- None — no access to snippets at all.
- View — see the snippets screens and browse the library.
- Edit — also create snippets and change existing ones.
- Full — also delete snippets.
Editing access includes creating snippets: a user who can edit can add new ones.
How access is granted
Access is granted through a dynamic capability, not by editing roles. Code Snippets never permanently changes a role: move a role back to None and its access is gone again, so every change is fully reversible.
Two safety nets are built in: administrators always keep access to snippets, and the Settings page itself remains admin-only. A permission change can’t lock you out of the screen you’d use to fix it.
This feature requires Code Snippets Pro, 4.0 or later, with an active licence.
